Alaska Intro
Alaskan Game Hunting in Alaska is unlike any other experience
you will have in your life. Comparable to the safaris of Africa,
you will not find animals of the same beauty or size in North
America or Europe. Alaska Trophy Hunts prides itself on the
ability to satisfy its customers while at the same time staying
true to the hunting experience.

We do not stalk or hunt from plane, but have one of the highest
success rates in Alaska. Our guides will help you find
and stalk your trophy from the ground. The trophies we produce
will be the centerpiece of your hunting showroom and a memory
that you will never forget.
Hunting Area and Details
Toms primary base-camp is in the West-Central Alaska Range
(GMU 19). Here there is an abundance of high peaks, rugged hills,
and sloped meadows that are home to nearly all species of Alaskan
big game and small game alike.
This area is approximately 75 air miles from McGrath and 150
air miles from Wasilla. This area has a solid game population,
offers spectacular views, is rugged and remote, and represents
why people choose to hunt Alaska. Toms base camp includes
wall tents, a separate cook tent, and many amenities to help
make you comfortable. Most people wont hunt from base
camp, but will instead be shuttled to one of several spike camps
depending on your abilities, condition, and what species you
are after. Tom hunts many river drainages in this remote area.
Tom also offers hunts in GMU 22 in the area around Unalakleet.
This area is commonly overlooked and offers some excellent opportunities
for both Moose and Caribou.
What We Provide
Once you arrive in camp, we provide all non-alcoholic refreshments,
snacks, food, shelters, transportation, guides, and packers.
We base our hunts out of a nicely equipped and very comfortable
base camp. The camp has wall tents with cots, a separate cook
tent with a full time cook, and other amenities to make you
comfortable. There are lots of hunting opportunities right out
of our base camp (black bear, brown bear, sheep, moose and sheep),
but we generally shuttle our hunters to our remote spike camps.
We transport you to the spike camps in Toms Super Cub
(or other small aircraft as needed). The spike camps will have
everything you need to be comfortable and well fed, but these
remote camps will generally be more primitive and secluded.
Normally the spike camp will consist of a single wall tent or
a small tent(s) for sites that are particularly difficult to
get to.

Depending on hunt type, your guide will provide a spotting scope,
game cleaning equipment, and pack frame as needed.
All of our spike camps are equipped with satellite phones to
communicate with the base camp and deal with emergencies.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You must purchase your hunting license (resident
or non-resident), any locking tags and obtain your harvest tickets
PRIOR to arriving at our base camp. We do not have those things
at camp, and you will not be allowed to hunt without having
the appropriate documentation in your possession. You must carry
those documents with you in the field while you are hunting.
Equipment Needed
While packing for your trip, please keep in mind that our hunting
camps are 75-100 miles from the nearest town or road. The
guide will provide all of the camping-type equipment and supplies
(TP, soap, stove, lantern, etc.). Also bear in mind that you
are limited to roughly 75 lbs of personal equipment per person. This
75 lbs limit is due to the size and space available in the Super
Cub. Since we are flying into remote country and will
be landing on gravel bars and tundra, we must be very careful
with aircraft performance characteristics.
Pack carefully but conservatively. If you are not sure
about what to bring, please talk with us before its time
to load you into the Cub. Repacking on the airstrip is never
fun. Leave most of the electronics at home. You wont need
a GPS since your guide knows the area.
Dall Sheep Hunt
.jpg)
Dall sheep produce excellent meat but are relatively small
in size, and it is difficult to retrieve them from the rugged
mountainous areas which they inhabit. These factors have limited
sheep hunting to a relatively few, hardy individuals whose interest
is more in the challenge and satisfaction of mountain hunting.
During the hunt, you will be expected to carry your sleeping
supplies on your back and navigate treacherous terrain. This
hunt is not for the weak of heart but the reward of getting
one of the most prized trophies in the hunting world is worth
the work!
.jpg)
.jpg)
You will be flown directly into sheep country with one of our
experienced guides. From there, you will need to climb up the
mountains to go after the sheep. Sheep will be located with
binoculars. As you get closer to the herd, a quality trophy
will be selected with a spotting scope. From there, it is up
to you to pull the trigger and reap your trophy!
Recreational hunting is limited to the taking of mature rams
during August and September. The hunter will be expected to
help with packing the meat due to the area and difficulty of
this type of hunt.
AK Trophy hunts has over 20 years of experience in guiding and
hunting sheep. We consider it our specialty. Our clients
have collected the #4 Pope and Young Dall sheep for the Safari
Club International trophy and multiple rankings in the teens
and twenties.
Moose Hunt
Moose are prevalent throughout Alaska. You can see them sometimes
walking through the towns of Alaska. What you dont
often see is the 1500+ pound moose that have a rack that is
hard to fit into an F150 extended cab.
Alaska Trophy Hunts has spike camps where the big moose roam.
We hunt where the Worlds Record for the largest moose
ever caught is still held. Our hunters have caught the #7 Safari
Club International moose along with some other lower rankings
in the teens and twenties. We will put you on the track of a
rack that would honor any hunters wall!
Many of our guides are experts on Moose hunting. They will show
you how to properly spot and stalk a moose or in the fall call
the moose in. Expect to spend a lot of time in your hip
boots while on the hunt!
.jpg)
We hunt the BIG moose at Alaska Trophy Hunts. These are the
moose that the average hunter cannot get to by foot, car, boat,
or any combination. The only way to get to these moose is by
plane and you need to know where to look!
Brown Bear Hunt
Due to high bear populations in the Unit
16 area, Alaska Fish & Game have authorized some special
rules. Those rules allow for TWO Brown Bears and up to THREE
Black Bears. Black Bear hunts will include both spot and stock
and bait station hunting.
10 Day - April 10th to May 10th (Unit 16 Only - Black bears
no charge on brown bear hunt)
Once found throughout the Americas, Alaska is one of the last
refuges of the wild Brown Bear. Alaska Trophy Hunts has
over a combined 100 years of experience in hunting these animals. With
all that experience and knowledge being shared between our guides
and Tom, there is no wonder why we have located some of the
best berry patches and salmon streams to hunt brown bears worthy
of a display at the Anchorage International Airport.

Our guides are also experienced at tracking of Moose kills.
We will help you spot and stalk the bear of your pick and assist
you in every way up to kill shot! Cubs and females with offspring
may not be killed. Hunting tours are provided both in the Spring
and Fall. The hunter is encouraged to help with the skinning
and packing of the bear.

Let Alaska Trophy Hunts find you a trophy that will be the
envy of all your hunter buddies! Brown bear is one of the most
popular big game hunts in Alaska with most mature males weighing
between 500 and 900 pounds, and with extremely large individuals
getting up to 1400 pounds, one can see why.
Black Bear Hunt
Black bears are the most abundant and widely distributed of
the three species of North American bears. In Alaska, black
bears occur over most of the forested areas of the state. An
average adult male in spring weighs about 180-200 pounds. They
are considerably lighter when they emerge from winter dormancy
and may be 20 percent heavier in the fall when they are fat.
Alaska Trophy Hunts offer Black Bear hunts with no additional
charge when combined with a brown bear hunt. If you have
completed your other hunts or see the opportunity to bag a black
while in the pursuit of your dream kill, AK Trophy hunts will
help you at no additional cost.
Black Bear can be hunted in the Spring or Fall. Cubs and females
with offspring may not be killed. The hunter is encouraged
to help with the skinning and packing of the bear.
Caribou Hunt
Caribou are found almost exclusively in Alaska and Canada.
They are almost constantly on the move migrating miles a day.
Thats why you need a professional organization like Alaska
Trophy Hunts to get you to the place where you will find your
trophy.
With over 3000 hours of flight time, Tom has seen his fair share
of caribou herds and knows their migration patterns. He can
take you where the 700 pound bulls roam. Also, since caribou
often cohabit where Alaska Trophy Hunts sends you for Moose
and Dall Sheep, you may want to consider taking one of our combo
packages. After all, when will you get this kind of opportunity
again!

We are continually tracking Caribou migrations and keeping records
so that we can provide our clients with the opportunity to come
home with one of the most unique set of antlers that nature
has to offer!
Combo Hunts
Combination hunts for dall sheep, brown bear, black bear, moose
and caribou are common and are quite successful. See hunt pricing

Other Details
You will need to provide your own transportation into our base
camp. Great Northern Air offers bush wheel plane service
directly out of Ted Stevens International Airport or Lake Hood
Airport which is directly adjacent to Ted Stevens. For the 2006
season, Great Northern charged $800 for a bush wheel equipped
Cessna 206. The useful load of the 206 is sufficient for 3 hunters
with a full compliment of equipment. To contact Great Northern
Air call 907-243-1968 or visit their website.
Another alternative is to fly commercial air service from Anchorage
to McGrath Alaska and then charter a flight with Red Line Air
into our base camp. You can reach Red Line Air at 907-524-3733.
The advantage of flying into McGrath is that it puts you on
the west side of the Alaska Range, which is where we hunt. There
are times where inclement weather makes flying over or through
the various Alaska Range passes difficult. On the other hand,
flying in and out of camp to McGrath is doable even with low
cloud cover or high winds.
